COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives today passed Substitute House Bill 2, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout the state. The Capital Budget will make historic investments in local community projects, announced State Rep. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville).
Patton secured the following capital investments that will positively impact Cuyahoga County and the surrounding region.
- $288,000 for the expansion of the BAYarts Cultural Arts Center
- $100,000 for the renovation of the Kol Israel Holocaust Memorial
- $500,000 for upgrades to the Brooklyn Veteran’s Memorial Park including parking lot renovations, a play area, all-weather pavilion, maintenance building, concrete walks, all-purpose trail, great lawn, and lawn and plantings
- $375,000 for the Two-Foundation Building purchase and renovation
- $500,000 to construct a 140,000 sq. ft. habitat for the primates and encompass four galleries including Forest, Gorilla, Orangutan and Rainforest at the Cleveland Zoo.
- $400,000 for the May Dugan Center renovation project
- $425,000 for Applewood Centers Inc.
- $500,000 to replace the HVAC for the Museum of Contemporary Art
- $100,000 for the Waterloo Arts Renovation Project
- $250,000 for Canal Basin Park riverfront connections
- $50,000 for the Barge 225 Cleveland Metroparks floating education center\
- $50,000 for the renovation of the American Cancer Society’s Cleveland Hope Lodge
- $500,000 for capital improvements to the Cleveland Public Theatre
- $500,000 for the Karamu House Capstone capital improvements
- $1,500,000 for the Cleveland Christian Home Child Wellness Campus
- $300,000 for the Journey for Hope supporting safe communities project
- $440,000 for the Chagrin Meadows Preserve
- $200,000 for the Hough Community Green Space
- $75,000 for Bacci Park infrastructure and security improvements
- $400,000 for the Shore Culture Centre renovation
- $75,000 for the Highland Heights Community Park Pavilions
- $750,000 for the Winterhurst Ice Arena Capital Renovations initiative
- $250,000 for the Beck Center for the Arts
- $100,000 for the Springvale Pickleball Courts
- $100,000 for Old Town Hall in North Olmstead
- $72,000 for upgrade to Seven Hills Park
- $750,000 for Bellefaire Child and Youth Services Center renovations
- $1,000,000 for the expansion of the Solon Community Park
- $500,000 for the Strongsville Town Center Enhancement and Walkability initiative
- $100,000 for Haven Home renovations
- $50,000 for Clague Park Cabin renovations
- $250,000 for the Olmstead Township Nature Tail and Bark Park
- $1,000,000 for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History
- $1,000,000 for the Severance Music Center.
“I am delighted that we were able to secure funding for so many worthwhile projects in the Cleveland area. It is an honor to represent Cuyahoga County here in the House of Representatives.” said Patton. “My only regret was that there were several excellent projects that didn’t make this list. I hope we can get them funded in future budgets.”
In addition, Patton secured millions in one-time funding from the Strategic Community Investment Fund that will directly serve the 17th House District and the surrounding communities, including:
